ACHÉ BRASIL
Aché Brasil, a high-energy group performing Brazilian music and dance, describes themselves as fusing music, dance, and Capoeira (martial arts and acrobatics) . Their shows are a dynamic and colourful mix of these artistic media, communicating to their audiences energy and enthusiasm. Founded in 1990, they are the first Capeoira group in Canada.
The group performed at island schools the week of January 23, and gave a public performance in the village of Queen Charlotte to a large, enthusiastic crowd on January 25.

DANA LYONS
Dana Lyons is best known
for his hit CD Cows with Guns, and was also a hit at the Haida Gwaii
2005 Edge of the World Music Festival.
His beautiful voice, compelling guitar stylings, and charismatic
personality captivated children and adult festival audiences.
Dana came to the islands for
a weekend, January 12-15, hosted by the Queen Charlotte Islands Arts
Council. He played a concert at United
Church in Skidegate and performed at a cabaret concert in Sandspit. Dana also gave a private concert at the
Fireside Lounge in Masset.
