§  ALL ISLANDS ART SHOW 2008

The 2008 art show will open on Friday, February 22, 7:00 pm at the Haida Gwaii Museum at Qay’llnagaay.  The museum is a beautiful new space, and the Arts Council is excited to be able to hold the show there this year.

The adjudicator for the show is Maria Hupfield, Assistant Professor at Emily Carr.  Ms. Hupfield specializes in First Nations art.  The Art Show Coordinator this year is Sheila Karrow.

The All Islands Art show will close on March 29.  A closing art show event will be held on Thursday, March 27 at 7:00 pm at the Haida Heritage Centre in Skidegate.  This event is a literary event, “Write.Read.Listen,” a “TEXTured CLOSING NIGHT,” featuring:  “Poetry. Story. Song. Critique. Monologue. Drama, inspired by Art. Life. Beauty. Horror. Pride. Honour.”  Celebrate the All Islands Art Show with words inspired by the art or anything else.  A drop box will be available for anonymous submissions, which can be read by a reader at the event, at the author’s option.  For further information, call Heather at 559-0093.
