§       VANCOUVER OPERA AT KAAY’LLNAGAAY HERITAGE CENTRE

The Vancouver Opera presented a first nations adaptation of Mozart’s opera “The Magic Flute” during its winter 2006-2007 opera season.  The performance received rave reviews.  Since then, a short version of the show has toured British Columbia schools.  This show came to the islands the week of April 23, and performed in six island schools, visiting all communities.

The QCI Arts Council was pleased to sponsor an evening public performance of this show as a part of Arts & Culture Week for 2007, supported by the Assembly of BC Arts Councils.   The opera was performed at the new Performance House in the Kaay’Llnagaay Heritage Centre in Skidegate on Tuesday, April 24.  This was the first theatre production to appear in the new centre.

A reception for the performers and the public  followed in the reception area adjacent to the Performance House
