§       MARY MURPHY & PAUL KEIM

Mary Murphy, self-described as “Celtic Roots, Folk Leaves,” is described by others in many ways: “a honeyed crystalline voice” and a “versatile and fiery singer/songwriter.”  She is said to possess a gift of melody and lyric that includes traditional, contemporary and original Irish/Celtic/Folk songs.  Her new CD, ‘A Painted Moon’, has won her accolades, and the CD also includes guest appearances from Juno winner David Francey.

Ms. Murphy will give two concerts on the islands, on Friday, November 17 at the Green Church in Masset at 7:30 pm, and on Saturday, November 18 at the Legion Hall in Queen Charlotte at 7:30 pm.  Tickets are priced at $15, or $12 for Arts Council members.

Paul Keim, Mary’s producer/guitarist will offer a Guitar Accompaniment Workshop on Sunday afternoon, November 19 at the Tlell Fire Hall from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.  This workshop will cover a full spectrum of musical genres and will incorporate teaching through example.  Paul will demonstrate how rhythmic melody lines, alternative voicing and overall dynamics can enhance, rejuvenate accompaniment guitar.  The workshop will cost $35 and is limited to six participants; to avoid disappointment, please phone Elizabeth at 557-4491, or email weavers@qcislands.net to reserve your spot.
